THE DALES

THE DALES

Bordering the Lake District to the west and the Peak District to the south the Dales is an ideal base from which to explore the abundance of characterful villages dotted throughout the undulating countryside with country lanes, bridleways and cycle ways.

A day at York or its famous races is a must whilst staying in the Dales, with shopping, sight seeing, museums and ghost hunting being at the top of the list of things to do whilst here.

KESWICK, LAKE DISTRICT

CUMBRIA, LAKE DISTRICT AND EDEN VALLEY

The Lake District and Eden Valley are two contrasting areas with the lakes being world famous with rugged mountains and lakes to the gentler rolling countryside of the Eden Valley.

Both are an ideal base from with to explore the county with a wealth of amenities from castles, museums, art galleries, shops, pubs and entertainment for all the family it is well worth a visit.

Open countryside gives way to cosmopolitan cities including Newcastle where shopping, museum and art galleries can be explored by day and a vibrant nightlife including pubs, restaurants and theatres.

Some beautiful seaside resorts can be found on the coastline and from the port at North Shields an overnight cruise to Amsterdam and other interesting places can be enjoyed.

History is in abundance in this area with castles, ruined battlements, stately homes, art galleries and museums, step over the border into England and Hadrian's Wall is easily accessible and a day spent visiting Gretna Green where in years gone by couples in love eloped to get married, to this day you can still get married over the world famous anvil.

Whether you prefer to explore by foot, bike or car there is much to see and do in the Scottish Borders with rolling countryside and picturesque towns to explore. The coastline with secluded coves is great for relaxation on a barmy summers day and the welcoming pubs are a great way to cool down afterwards.

At any time of year London is the perfect holiday destination for a short break or for longer. With cosmopolitan shops, bars and restaurants along with famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, 10 Downing Street, Harrods, St Pauls Cathedral and much more a few days will not be enough to all the sights in, especially if you also want to visit the many museums and art galleries.

London will leave you yearning to return in this ever changing fast paced city with vibrant night life, restaurants, shops and much more.
